It’s a cute and quirky little story but a few years back my best friend and I were beginning to notice that I was starting to like birds (pigeons in particular). Everywhere we’d go I would point out birds all along the street, and I would be so captivated by their innocent behaviour, I just found them so mindless in character.
For my 19th birthday, she thought it would be a great idea to find a photo of a puffed-up pigeon online and print it on a shirt. When she showed me the photo (I was unaware of the shirt at the time) she said " OMG LOOK at this chubby pigeon, what would you name it?" I just burst out, "Bernie! Fat Bernie!
At the time of saying it like that I told her, wouldn’t that be a dope name for a streetwear brand? She agreed and we left it at that. And on that birthday I was presented with that same chubby pigeon reading “Fat Bernie” underneath.
Now it’s 2023 and I’ve brought that name to life, I will never forget its creation and the memory it holds, it’s special to me. I still have the same shirt she made for me and I've completely worn the crap out of it.
But yeah that’s just the little journey of how the name came to be. I’m so excited to see what this name can do, and show some of the stuff we've been working on over the last couple of years and bring them to life!
